PLITVIČKA JEZERA LAKES

The group of the
Plitvička jezera lakes, proclaimed a National Park
in 1949, are a mountain area covered by woods with a
string of 16 beautiful little and great lakes of
crystal clear blue-greenish water. They get their
water from numerous small rivers and streams and
they are connected by foamy cascades and roaring
falls. In NP Plitvička jezera the barriers between
the lakes, across which fall beautiful big and small
falls, are created in a special natural way.
They are calciferous formations that are solid,
porous and breakable calciferous rock called
travertine. Extraordinary beauty of lakes and falls,
rich flora and fauna, the contrast of autumn
colours, magnificent winter scenery, woods and
mountain air, walks through woods and over wooden
bridges, comfortable homely hotels and restaurants
attract many visitors from all over the world.
Every visit is a new and exceptional experience of
nature, its might and beauty |
